July Jazz Night

Jazz night is back!

Friday 12th July 2019

Starting at 7.00 pm

Join us for a three-course meal and coffee whilst listening to our live Jazz group - the Acker Bilk band with Richie Bryant drummer and special guest Enrico Tomasso on Trumpet as they play the classic jazz standards.

Ticket Price - £36 per person

The Band:

Saxophone – John Hallam
John Hallam is a fluent and supremely sensitive performer on clarinet and saxophones and his music is both lyrical and innovative. He played with some of the finest musicians from both sides of the Atlantic. His work has also covered recordings for radio, television, workshops and projects for education.

Guitar – Jim Douglas
It was his interest firstly in ‘Skiffle’ and later jazz that led to Jim acquiring a guitar and banjo at the age of fifteen. Their first band ‘The Hidden Town Dixie-landers’ went from strength to strength and after a change of name and winning the Carroll Levis’ Discoveries competition, the band turned professional to fulfil an engagement in Germany as the ‘Capitol Jazz Band’.

Drums – Richie Bryant
Richie has played with the best of British Jazz including Terry Lightfoot and his Jazzmen, Stan Grieg, Brian Lemon and Dave Shepherd including BBC Jazz stations. In 1972, Richie joined Acker Bilk and the Paramount Jazz Band playing to worldwide audiences.

Bass – Bill Coleman
Bill Coleman combines jazz, classical, Latin and contemporary influences. He started his career playing alongside the great American drummer Kenny Clarke, as well as working in trios alongside guitarists Mundell Lowe and the Welsh wizard Trevor Owen.

Trumpet - Enrico Tomasso
After college in Leeds Enrico moved to London joining the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, a 1920s/1930s-style band before joining Ray Gelato's band. Enrico turned to freelance. His styles include Swing and Dixieland but has also discovered Miles Davis, Clifford Brown and fusion Jazz.
